Resort Review In Ras-Al-Khaimah: Banyan Tree Al Wadi

It was weekend getaway and we decided to stay the night at the magical Banyan Tree Al Wadi in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK). The exterior design did not meet our expectations but our judgement could be biased because of two factors:  1) heard too many positive reviews about the Banyan Tree portfolio regarding its exclusivity and spectacular design 2) compared to the luxurious Qasr Al Sarab that we stayed in the previous weekend.

The vast desert resort is 45 mins of drive from Dubai, and will take another 20 mins to reach to main RAK town. The concept of Banyan Tree is to be located in an exclusive area to offer guests a rejuvenating and relaxing experience. This resort to us couple was very adventure-focused, in which we loved. There were many activities from the falcon show, to desert safari, to fat biking, to camel ride (I will show you our photos with our camel friend, Shahin later in this blog).

The resort consists of many stand-alone villas, dispersedly distributed in the immense desert. We really felt like we were part of an ancient desert tribal civilisation.

We were much more impressed with the alluring Arabesque décor in our villa. The designer has not only utilised the space efficiently but also elevated the luxury of the traditional Arab and South Asian cultures. The interior design was much inspired by the Bedouin-style, which we truly admired.

What we loved most was the fact that we could dip in the cool water and contemplated the sand dunes and the sunrise.

There was a lack of dining options. However, the all-day dining was finely designed. Breakfast was of high quality and we could find the majority of what we were craving for that morning.

Now, this is the part where I am most excited about – “showing off” our touristy side: Yes, a 45-min camel ride. We enjoyed it but the weather condition did tire us a little bit.

What I loved about Banyan Tree Al Wadi was the experience with the wildlife, the excellent hospitality from the management team to the operation staff. I would definitely recommend this beautiful resort to adventurous couples.

Much love from Dubai & Singapore,

Yung & Pat
